In Style is the second solo album released by (then-)former lead singer of the New York Dolls, David Johansen. The album was released in 1979 and is designed as a more-commercial album than Johansen's previously self-titled album, David Johansen. After Johansen released his first solo album, he received favorable reviews but low album sales. Therefore, In Style offers more pop-style songs, such as Melody and Swaheto Woman.
Swaheto Woman was released as a single and provided Johansen's first disco song. Swaheto Woman, and three other tracks on the album, were co-written by Johansen's friend and fellow New York Doll, Sylvain Sylvain. In Style also features Ian Hunter and Dan Hartman performing on the album.
